Billionaire Wants To Build A $400 Million Desert City In America

The rich gets richer, and the poor gets poorer. That is a common saying that is often heard around the world with the increasing income inequality among people. Marc Lore, the internet billionaire who founded two startups that he sold for $550 million and $3.3 billion, wants to alter the income gap between the rich and the poor by building a desert city called Telosa.

Telosa takes after the ancient Greek word, Telos, which means “highest purpose” and Lore wants to provide all five million citizens with a fleet of electric autonomous cars, indoor farming, high-speed public transportation, education, and healthcare for all.

Lore wants to buy about 200,000 undeveloped acres, with planners scouting locations in Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Arizona, Texas, and the Appalachians. Phase one for Telosa’s construction will call for $25 billion and see 50,000 people live in a circular neighborhood of 1,500 acres at 34 residents per square acre by 2030. Then, over the next 40 years, he expects to expand to a population of 5 million over 150,000 acres and a total cost of $400 billion.
