Caveat emptor if you are buying UV sterilisers
Touted as effective, quick, cheap, and easy to use, the sales of ultraviolet (UV) sanitisers have exploded as the COVID-19 pandemic has taken hold.
Singaporeans have been hoovering up these handheld devices from retail and online sources in a bid to keep themselves safe from germs in their homes and offices.
Unfortunately, this technological solution not only doesn’t have much evidence behind it, but experts are also warning that they might cause more harm than good.
UV is potentially dangerous to your skin, and the devices themselves lack the data to show that they are effective. Be careful before you spend money on something that gives you peace of mind without giving you protection.
