Facebook to block news over Australia’s law to pay for content

The Australian government has recently proposed that Facebook and Google have to pay for news originating from the country’s local providers.

In response to this, Facebook said that it would stop Australians sharing news on its platform if the proposal to make it pay local media companies for their content becomes a law.

The government justifies this potential law to be in the national interest. Is this proposed law really logical? Will it hurt the Australian consumers? Will it lead to disinformation?
