Swollen balls? Nicki Minaj says it’s not you, it’s the vaccine

38-year-old rapper Nicki Minaj recently caused quite a stir on twitter, citing a strange case of an acquaintance suffering from swollen testicles due to the Covid-19 vaccine. She tweeted the following: “My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine because his friend got it and became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding”.

Given the tweet’s extreme inaccuracy, both the US and Trinidad government were quick to refute her claims. Trinidad’s health minister said in a press conference that officials in Trinidad “wasted so much time” trying to confirm Minaj’s claims about Covid-19 vaccine side effects.

Similarly, Dr. Anthony Fauci addressed her tweet, mentioning the adverse effects of such kinds of misinformation. He went on to say, “As we stand now, there is absolutely no reported side effect or adverse event of testicular swelling in Trinidad… and none that we know of anywhere in the world.” He cautioned celebrities with wide-reaching influences against providing information that is not backed by science, citing the adverse health consequences it poses on the American population.
